The Negev today - visions and reality.
A jeep tour that examines the whole concept of settlement in the Negev - what was envisioned and what has been achieved. We will start the day with a visit to David and Paula Ben Gurion's graves site overlooking the spectacular Zin Valley. We will then continue, by jeep, to a look out on the Halukim Hills from where we will be able to see the Sde Boker area and it's surroundings. A drive along the spine of this range of hills will reveal examples of all the different types of settlement in the Negev. At the homestead belonging to the Kash'har familly we will be treated to some famous Bedouin hospitality and an insight into how these proud people are coping with the challenges of modern life. We will finish our jeep tour with a short leap into history by visiting the ancient Ramaliah cisterns, hewn into the rocky sides of Wadi Tzin in ages gone by, where we will hear about the history of settlement in this region and see how it was achieved. Duration of jeep tour: approximately 4 hours. Price: 940 NIS per jeep (maximum 8 passengers per jeep).
